I think people assume that Jack’s influence on Bluesky is larger than it actually is. He’s 1/3 of the board and isn’t involved much otherwise from what the team has said.

I got my invite for Post yesterday and it’s rough, even for a beta.
Payment and tipping systems were prioritized over basic security features like muting and blocking (which are still unavailable as of this writing), privacy settings for posts are marked as “coming soon”, the mysterious “explore” section is prioritized over the feed of people you follow, and explore’s posts focus on either US politics or the ongoing drama at Twitter.
I found out yesterday that I’d been blocked by an artist I like on Twitter. The reason appears to be because I unfollowed them last year during one of their more heated rants about working for the bigger comic book publishers.
I’m not going to name names. Ultimately, it’s up to them who they want to see their content and who they don’t. I’ve always looked at following/unfollowing like moving in and out of conversations, but I know not everyone feels the same.

I’ve previously compared the current state of Facebook to the rotting carcass of a beached whale — dead, but too big to do anything with, and has thus become a huge thriving biome for various parasites.
It is amazing the harm that can be excused by attributing it to machine learning or algorithmic flaws.
